Elephant Trail

Overview

This itinerary covers Chobe National Park’s Savuti region, Khwai Concession (community-managed and private reserves), and Moremi Game Reserve, forming a world-class safari circuit in northern Botswana. Together, these areas span diverse ecosystems: Savuti’s semi-arid marshes and predator-heavy plains (~2,600 km² within Chobe’s 11,700 km²), Khwai’s lush, unfenced riverine floodplains (~200,000 hectares), and Moremi’s pristine Okavango Delta core (~5,000 km²). Expect abundant wildlife: lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetahs, elephants (huge dry-season herds), buffalo, hippos, and 400+ bird species (e.g., fish eagles, pelicans). Savuti offers dramatic elephant-lion interactions, Khwai allows off-road driving, night drives, mokoro trips, and walking safaris (not permitted in Moremi/Chobe), and Moremi delivers iconic Delta scenery with high game density.
